Bio

Alden Leifer, MD, is an ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, setting the stage for a career focused on eye care. Dr. Leifer then completed an internship at One Brooklyn Health / Brookdale University Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. After graduating, Dr. Leifer completed a residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, gaining the kind of patient-facing experience that no classroom can replicate. It is this kind of thorough preparation that allows Dr. Leifer to approach each patient visit with both knowledge and confidence.

Specializing in Glaucoma Surgery and Dry Eye is what sets Dr. Leifer apart, and patients notice that depth of knowledge right from the start. Glaucoma is one of those conditions that most people do not notice until it has already had an effect, which is why Dr. Leifer takes a careful, proactive approach to checking for it at every visit. As the lens of the eye gradually clouds, it can take the sharpness out of everyday vision, and Dr. Leifer helps patients figure out the best way to address it when the time is right. Dr. Leifer also has expertise in Cataract Surgery, and General Ophthalmology, giving patients access to a wide range of care in one place.

Membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology is something Dr. Leifer values, as it keeps Dr. Leifer current with the standards and advances in the field. Dr. Leifer speaks Spanish alongside English, so patients who prefer to communicate in that language can do so comfortably. Dr. Leifer enjoys travel and adventure when the chance comes, keeping life balanced outside of the practice. Spending time with family is important to Dr. Leifer, and that sense of care extends into how he treats every patient who comes through the door. Patients can visit Dr. Leifer at Alden Leifer and Associates, whichever location works best for them.
