Bio

Brian Campolattaro, MD, studied at Franklin and Marshall College before graduating at the top of the class at New Jersey Medical School. Ophthalmology residency was served at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology followed in St. Louis, at Washington University Medical Center.

The practice divides between children and eye alignment. Children are seen for the range of eye conditions that present early, from problems that must be caught while vision is still developing to conditions needing surgery in the first years of life. Strabismus, where the eyes do not point in the same direction, runs through both halves of the work: it is corrected surgically in children, and in adults whose alignment has shifted. The aim in every case is binocular vision that holds, rather than eyes that merely look straight in a photograph.

Dr. Campolattaro is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds an assistant clinical professorship in ophthalmology. Membership runs in the national academy for the specialty and in its pediatric and strabismus association, and hospital privileges are held at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. Recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor has run since 2003. In Dr. Campolattaro's own words, "A child cannot tell you that one eye is drifting, and often a family only notices it in photographs. Getting the alignment right early changes how a child sees for the rest of their life, which is why I would rather look too soon than too late."
