Bio

Bruce J. Markovitz, MD, is an ophthalmologist who chose to pursue a career in eye care after completing undergraduate studies at Penn State University. Next came Dr. Markovitz's Doctor of Optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he received rigorous training in both the theory and practice of eye care. Dr. Markovitz then completed an internship at Chestnut Hill Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Residency training at Cooper University Hospital gave Dr. Markovitz hands-on experience across many areas of eye care, preparing him well for the years ahead.

When it comes to Glaucoma Surgery and Cataract Surgery, Dr. Markovitz brings both deep training and hands-on experience to every appointment. For glaucoma, early detection makes all the difference, and Dr. Markovitz knows that well, which is why this condition gets special attention during every eye exam. Cataracts slowly make the lens less clear, which can affect everything from reading a menu to watching a favorite show, and Dr. Markovitz has the experience to help patients through every stage of treatment. In addition to those specialties, Dr. Markovitz works with patients who need help with General Ophthalmology, and Pediatric Eye Care as well.

Membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology is something Dr. Markovitz values, as it keeps Dr. Markovitz current with the standards and advances in the field. Dr. Markovitz also dedicates time to teaching medical students and residents, passing along years of experience. Outside of work, Dr. Markovitz cherishes time with family, and that same care and attention comes into every patient visit. Dr. Markovitz is available at ReFocus Eye Health Philadelphia or ReFocus Eye Health Camden, so patients can choose the spot that is most convenient.
