Bio

Burton Wisotsky, MD, read biology at Yale University, graduating with honors, and then took the MD, with highest honors, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Ophthalmology residency was served at Montefiore Medical Center, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship followed at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University in Detroit.

The practice covers the retina and the vitreous, medically and surgically. Diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration make up much of the scheduled work, both of them conditions where the interval between visits matters nearly as much as the treatment itself. Vitreous disorders, ocular trauma, and uveitis fill out the rest, and trauma in particular arrives without an appointment. Surgery is carried out at the practice's local surgery centers.

Dr. Wisotsky is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds fellowship in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Work on vitreoretinal disease has been published across several of the field's principal journals. In Dr. Wisotsky's own words, "Retinal problems rarely announce themselves politely, so a patient who notices a change deserves to be seen quickly rather than scheduled for next month.
