Carly Crapanzano, OD, studied psychology at Pennsylvania State University before taking the optometry degree in New York. Internship rotations covered a New Jersey specialty practice and an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. The residency that followed, in ocular disease, was completed at the practice that became the professional home.
The role is consultative. Patients are seen alongside the practice's specialists rather than in a separate lane, which means a finding can be worked up, explained, and handed on within one visit structure. Residency training in ocular disease is what that rests on, and it weights the work toward medical management and monitoring rather than routine correction alone. Two decades in the same practice have made that coordination routine.
Dr. Crapanzano holds membership in the American Optometric Association and in a state society of optometric physicians. In Dr. Crapanzano's own words, "A lot of what I do is sorting out what is actually going on when something has not looked right. I would rather take the extra look now than have someone come back worse in six months." Patients can visit Dr. Crapanzano at Omni Eye Services in West Orange.
