Carol J. Hoffman, MD

Bio

Carol J. Hoffman, MD, is a corneal specialist whose subspecialty fellowship covered cornea and external eye disease. A biology degree from the University of Delaware, earned with Phi Beta Kappa membership, preceded medical training at Jefferson Medical College and Alpha Omega Alpha honors during medical school. An internal medicine internship in Delaware came next, and both stages of eye training, residency and then subspecialty fellowship, were completed at Wills Eye Hospital.

Refractive vision correction sits at the center of the clinical practice, including LASIK and PRK, alongside medical and surgical treatment of the cornea. Thousands of LASIK procedures have been performed over a career spanning more than two decades. Patients considering laser vision correction are evaluated for candidacy first, so the recommendation fits the eye rather than the procedure.

Dr. Hoffman holds board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and directs clinical care across the practice's New Jersey and Delaware offices. Memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Delaware Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and the Delaware Medical Society. In Dr. Hoffman's own words, "Vision correction is a decision people think about for years, so I take the time to explain what LASIK or PRK can and cannot do for a particular set of eyes.
