Bio
Christopher Newton, MD, is a cataract surgeon & cornea specialist whose path to eye care started while studying at University of Vermont College. Dr. Newton went on to earn his medical degree from University of Vermont, College of Medicine, graduating magna cum laude, where he gained a thorough grounding in the science and treatment of eye diseases. Residency training at SUNY Upstate Medical University gave Dr. Newton hands-on experience across many areas of eye care, preparing him well for the years ahead. Dr. Newton finished his formal training with a fellowship in External Disease and Refractive Surgery, which allowed him to zero in on the kind of care he provides today.
Dr. Newton has dedicated a significant part of his career to Dry Eye and LASIK & Refractive Surgery, and that shows in the quality of care patients receive. Refractive procedures like LASIK can change the way light enters the eye, often dramatically improving vision without glasses or contacts, and Dr. Newton is experienced in helping patients through that process. Dry eye is more common than most people expect, and Dr. Newton helps patients understand what is causing their discomfort and what options are available to address it. Dr. Newton also has expertise in Cornea Surgery, and Anterior Segment Surgery, giving patients access to a wide range of care in one place.
You can visit Dr. Newton at Rhode Island Eye Institute Providence, Rhode Island Eye Institute South Kingstown, or Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, and any of those locations would be glad to see you. Good eye health is something that matters at every stage of life, and Dr. Newton is here to help. Dr. Newton looks forward to meeting new patients and being a trusted part of their eye care for years to come. From the first visit onward, Dr. Newton wants every patient to feel comfortable, informed, and well taken care of.
