Rony Gelman, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon & medical retina specialist with a background that begins at New York University, where he built the academic skills that would shape his career. After that, Dr. Gelman completed his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine, diving deep into the study of how the eye works and how to keep it healthy. Dr. Gelman then completed an internship at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Dr. Gelman then trained as a resident at Columbia University, where the focus was on building real-world experience with patients day after day. Most recently, Dr. Gelman completed fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgical & Medical, an experience that sharpened his skills and gave him real confidence in this area of eye care.
Dr. Gelman specializes in Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration, areas where focused expertise makes a real difference for patients. The retina plays a central role in how clearly you see, and when a condition starts to affect it, Dr. Gelman is trained to identify the problem early and put together a plan to address it. Dr. Gelman also has expertise in Retinal Vascular Disorders, and Hereditary Retinal Disorder, giving patients access to a wide range of care in one place. From the first visit onward, Dr. Gelman works to make sure patients feel at ease, informed, and confident that they are getting the right care.
