Bio
Tony Kang, MD, is a retina specialist & cataract surgeon with a background that begins at Cornell University, where he built the academic skills that would shape his career. From there, Dr. Kang pursued and earned a medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, building expertise in diagnosis, treatment, and surgery. During residency at University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute, Dr. Kang rose to become chief resident, showing both clinical ability and the kind of leadership that patients notice. Most recently, Dr. Kang completed fellowship training in Medical Retina, an experience that sharpened his skills and gave him real confidence in this area of eye care.
Dr. Kang specializes in Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration, areas where focused expertise makes a real difference for patients. Healthy retinas are at the heart of clear vision, and Dr. Kang is trained to spot early signs of problems that, if left unchecked, could gradually affect how well a patient sees. Dr. Kang rounds out his offerings with experience in Retinal Diseases, and General Ophthalmology, making for a well-rounded practice. Patient comfort is something Dr. Kang genuinely cares about, which is why every visit includes time to talk things through and answer any questions.
Membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Society of Retina Specialists is something Dr. Kang values, as it keeps Dr. Kang current with the standards and advances in the field. Speaking Korean in addition to English is something that helps Dr. Kang connect with a wider range of patients and make them feel welcome. When not at the clinic, Dr. Kang enjoys getting out on the trails for a good hike. You can see Dr. Kang at Dulles Eye Associates Lansdowne or Dulles Eye Associates Annandale, making it easy to find a location that fits your schedule.
