Dr. Valerie Lam, OD, FAAO, FOVDR

Bio

Valerie Lam, OD, FOVDR, FAAO, is an optometrist whose path to eye care started while studying at University of California San Diego. Dr. Lam then went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from Marshall B. Ketchum University, Southern California College of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude, where hands-on patient care became a central part of her training. A fellowship in American Academy of Optometry was the final step in Dr. Lam's training, giving her an in-depth look at the specialty that now defines much of her practice. Dr. Lam has also been involved in clinical research, helping to advance how eye conditions are understood and treated.

Dr. Lam has dedicated a significant part of her career to Myopia Management and Neurological Disorders of the Optic Nerve, and that shows in the quality of care patients receive. For patients with myopia, especially younger ones whose eyes are still changing, Dr. Lam keeps a close eye on how things are progressing and adjusts the plan as needed. No matter what a patient comes in for, Dr. Lam takes the time to make sure they understand their options and feel comfortable with their care. Dr. Lam understands that eye care can feel intimidating, which is why the priority is always to make the experience as comfortable and clear as possible.

Membership in the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, the Orange County Optometric Society, and the California Optometric Association is something Dr. Lam values, as it keeps Dr. Lam current with the standards and advances in the field. Dr. Lam speaks Spanish, ASL alongside English, so patients who prefer to communicate in that language can do so comfortably.
