Bio

Earle Scharff, OD, is an optometrist who began his education at The University of Texas at Austin, where he first developed an interest in the science behind eye health. Dr. Scharff then went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry, where hands-on patient care became a central part of his training. Together, these experiences have given Dr. Scharff a strong and well-rounded foundation that patients benefit from every day. Patients can feel confident that Dr. Scharff brings both strong training and real care to every appointment.

Dr. Scharff's specialty areas include Dry Eye and Keratoconus Management, and that focused training is something patients benefit from right away. Getting the right contact lens matters more than most people realize, especially when there is an underlying condition involved, and Dr. Scharff is experienced in navigating those details. Dry eye is more common than most people expect, and Dr. Scharff helps patients understand what is causing their discomfort and what options are available to address it. Beyond the core specialties, Dr. Scharff also handles Contact Lenses & Fittings, so patients do not have to look far for the care they need.

Growing up with myopia gave Dr. Scharff a firsthand understanding of what it is like to navigate vision challenges, and that experience still shapes how he approaches patient care. Music is something Dr. Scharff enjoys outside of work, whether that means playing or simply listening. You can visit Dr. Scharff at Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, Rhode Island Eye Institute Fall River, or Rhode Island Eye Institute South Kingstown, and any of those locations would be glad to see you. Dr. Scharff looks forward to meeting new patients and being a trusted part of their eye care for years to come.
