Bio

Elana Rosenberg, MD, is an ophthalmologist whose subspecialty fellowship was in glaucoma. Two undergraduate degrees came first, one from the University of Pennsylvania, the other from its business school, and a medical degree at New York University followed. Internship training in New Rochelle came next, then ophthalmology residency in Manhattan, and a glaucoma fellowship at the Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University.

The clinical focus is glaucoma in its many forms, from primary open angle and angle closure disease through pigmentary, pseudoexfoliation, neovascular, and inflammatory types. Treatment is built case by case from medication, laser, and surgery, with the goal of holding pressure steady over decades rather than months. Cataract surgery belongs to the same practice, often for the patients being followed for glaucoma.

Dr. Rosenberg is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Research has been presented at national glaucoma and vision science meetings, and a published paper examines essential fatty acids in the treatment of dry eye. In Dr. Rosenberg's own words, "Glaucoma is a long conversation rather than a single appointment, and the plan has to fit the person as much as the pressure. My aim is to protect as much vision as possible for as long as possible, using the least treatment that will do the job."
