Bio

Erika Wandel, MD, is a cataract & glaucoma surgeon whose path to eye care started while studying at University of Chicago. From there, Dr. Wandel pursued and earned a medical degree at New York Medical College, building expertise in diagnosis, treatment, and surgery. Dr. Wandel then completed an internship at Greenwich Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. During residency at John Stroger Cook County Hospital, Dr. Wandel honed her ability to handle a wide range of eye care situations under the supervision of experienced physicians. Dr. Wandel finished her formal training with a fellowship in Glaucoma, which allowed her to zero in on the kind of care she provides today.

Specializing in Glaucoma Surgery and Cataract Surgery is what sets Dr. Wandel apart, and patients notice that depth of knowledge right from the start. Glaucoma is a condition that can quietly damage the nerve at the back of the eye over time, often without any noticeable symptoms, which is why routine check-ups play such an important role in catching it early.
