Bio

Hugo M. Linares, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon who chose to pursue a career in eye care after completing undergraduate studies at Rutgers University. Dr. Linares followed up with a medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where the focus shifted to the detailed science of eye diseases and their treatment. Dr. Linares then completed an internship at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Residency training at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine gave Dr. Linares hands-on experience across many areas of eye care, preparing him well for the years ahead. Most recently, Dr. Linares completed fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery, an experience that sharpened his skills and gave him real confidence in this area of eye care.

Dr. Linares has dedicated a significant part of his career to Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration, and that shows in the quality of care patients receive. Healthy retinas are at the heart of clear vision, and Dr. Linares is trained to spot early signs of problems that, if left unchecked, could gradually affect how well a patient sees. Dr. Linares rounds out his offerings with experience in Macular Edema, and Retinal Vascular Disorders, making for a well-rounded practice. The way Dr. Linares sees it, a patient who understands what is happening with their eyes is a patient who can make the best decisions for their health.

Dr. Linares is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, staying connected to the broader eye care community and continuing to grow as a professional. Dr. Linares speaks Spanish alongside English, so patients who prefer to communicate in that language can do so comfortably. Dr. Linares is available at Retina Associates of Greater Philadelphia Nazareth Hospital, Retina Associates of Greater Philadelphia Sewell, or Retina Associates of Greater Philadelphia Plymouth Greene, so there are several convenient options for patients. Dr. Linares is the kind of provider who remembers what matters to each patient, and that shows in every visit.
