Bio

Jacqueline Gabay, MD, took the medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Ophthalmology residency was served at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital, closing with the departmental chief resident appointment, and further glaucoma training followed.

The practice is built around one disease. Glaucoma is managed on a long arc, with pressure measurement, imaging of the optic nerve and the nerve fiber layer, and treatment escalated only as the nerve dictates: drops first, then selective laser trabeculoplasty, then surgery when neither holds the pressure down. Cataract surgery sits alongside that work, since the two conditions travel together in older eyes and one operation can often serve both. The diagnostic side matters as much as the treatment, because glaucoma is measured in change over years rather than in symptoms.

Dr. Gabay is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and belongs to the national academy for the specialty as well as glaucoma and state ophthalmic societies. Research toward new glaucoma medications and frequent lecturing have accompanied the clinical work, and recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor has run since 2019. Spanish is spoken alongside English. In Dr. Gabay's own words, "Glaucoma takes sight so slowly that most people have lost some before they notice anything, which is why the imaging matters as much as the eye chart.
