Bio

James A. Rial, MD, is a retina specialist who earned his medical degree from State University of New York Health Science Center, setting the stage for a career focused on eye care. Dr. Rial then completed an internship at University of Pennsylvania Health System, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. During residency at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital., Dr. Rial rose to become chief resident, showing both clinical ability and the kind of leadership that patients notice. Dr. Rial rounded out his training with a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery, which gave him a deep, focused understanding of the area where he now spends most of his time helping patients.

Dr. Rial has dedicated a significant part of his career to Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Diseases, and that shows in the quality of care patients receive. Because the retina is so essential to everyday vision, Dr. Rial takes a careful and thorough approach to monitoring it, making sure that any changes are caught and addressed right away. Beyond the core specialties, Dr. Rial also handles Retina & Vitreous Disease, and Retinal Tears & Detachments, so patients do not have to look far for the care they need. Dr. Rial believes that every patient deserves a clear explanation and enough time to ask questions, and that is what they get at every visit.

Dr. Rial speaks Spanish alongside English, so patients who prefer to communicate in that language can do so comfortably. Family comes first for Dr. Rial, and that warmth and patience is something patients notice right away. Dr. Rial is available at Atlantic Retina Center Dover, Atlantic Retina Center Salisbury, or Atlantic Retina Center Ocean Pines, so there are several convenient options for patients. Eye care should feel approachable, not stressful, and that is exactly the kind of experience Dr. Rial aims to provide.
