Bio
James Pasternack, MD, is an ophthalmologist who earned his undergraduate degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, setting the foundation for a career spent helping people see their best. Dr. Pasternack then earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School, spending years mastering the medical and surgical side of eye care. After graduating, Dr. Pasternack completed a residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital, gaining the kind of patient-facing experience that no classroom can replicate. To cap off his education, Dr. Pasternack pursued a fellowship in Glaucoma, spending time learning the finer details of this specialty from experts in the field.
Specializing in Glaucoma Surgery and Cataract Surgery is what sets Dr. Pasternack apart, and patients notice that depth of knowledge right from the start. Glaucoma tends to progress without causing pain or noticeable changes at first, which is exactly why Dr. Pasternack places a strong focus on early detection and ongoing monitoring for every patient. When the eye's lens starts to cloud up, simple activities can begin to feel frustrating, and Dr. Pasternack works with patients to determine the right time and approach for treatment. Dr. Pasternack also has expertise in General Ophthalmology, and Advanced Cataract Surgery, giving patients access to a wide range of care in one place.
Dr. Pasternack maintains professional ties through the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, a sign of ongoing dedication to the craft of eye care. Dr. Pasternack also gives back through volunteer work, a sign that helping others extends well beyond the practice. In addition to patient care, Dr. Pasternack has spent time teaching, helping future doctors learn the ins and outs of the field. You can visit Dr. Pasternack at ReFocus Eye Health Bloomfield (NW), ReFocus Eye Health Windsor, or ReFocus Eye Health Avon, and any of those locations would be glad to see you.
