Bio

Jane Cook, MD, is a cataract surgeon & cornea specialist who began her education at Cornell University, where she first developed an interest in the science behind eye health. Dr. Cook went on to earn her medical degree from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, graduating cum laude, where she gained a thorough grounding in the science and treatment of eye diseases. Dr. Cook then completed an internship at Brown University, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Dr. Cook completed her residency at Case Western Reserve University, where she earned the distinction of chief resident, a role that recognizes both skill and leadership. A fellowship in Cornea & External Diseases was the final step in Dr. Cook's training, giving her an in-depth look at the specialty that now defines much of her practice.

Specializing in Intraocular Lens Exchange and Cornea Surgery is what sets Dr. Cook apart, and patients notice that depth of knowledge right from the start. A cloudy lens is something that happens to many people as they get older, and when it starts to interfere with daily life, Dr. Cook is here to explain the options and help patients get their clarity back. Keeping the cornea healthy is something Dr. Cook considers with every patient, because even small changes to this part of the eye can have a noticeable effect on how clearly someone sees. In addition to those specialties, Dr. Cook works with patients who need help with Anterior Segment Surgery, and Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery as well.

Professionally, Dr. Cook is affiliated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the New England Ophthalmological Society, which reflects a commitment to keeping up with the latest in eye care. Part of what drives Dr. Cook is the desire to give back, and that shows up in a commitment to teaching and mentoring in the field. Dr. Cook is available at Rhode Island Eye Institute South Kingstown, Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, or Rhode Island Eye Institute Fall River, so there are several convenient options for patients. Good eye health is something that matters at every stage of life, and Dr. Cook is here to help.
