Bio

Jesse Richman, MD, studied at Penn State University and took a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, then trained through a transitional internship in Philadelphia. Ophthalmology residency at Brown University brought the William Tsiaras Research Award, with a chief resident appointment to follow. A glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital closed the training, and lectures and resident teaching in its glaucoma department continue today.

The practice covers medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma alongside cataract surgery. Glaucoma care runs from drops and laser through minimally invasive stenting to traditional filtering surgery, with the choice turning on how much optic nerve damage has already occurred. A patented contrast sensitivity test for glaucoma detection came out of that work, as did a single-step toric marker that reduces astigmatism during lens surgery. A first-in-Delaware implantation of the iStent trabecular micro bypass put this practice early to minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and published articles, textbook chapters, and conference presentations have followed.

Board certification comes from the American Board of Ophthalmology, with membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. Recognition includes Castle Connolly Top Doctor selections in 2020 and 2021, plus Top Doc listings in regional South Jersey and New Jersey guides. In Dr. Richman's own words, "Glaucoma is quiet until it is not, so the work is finding it early and then protecting the vision a patient still has.
