Bio

John Donahue, MD, PhD, is a pediatric ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree from University of Colorado, setting the stage for a career focused on eye care. Residency training at University of Colorado gave Dr. Donahue hands-on experience across many areas of eye care, preparing him well for the years ahead. To cap off his education, Dr. Donahue pursued a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, spending time learning the finer details of this specialty from experts in the field. Years of careful, step-by-step training have set Dr. Donahue up to offer the kind of thorough, personalized care that patients deserve.

Dr. Donahue's specialty areas include Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and that focused training is something patients benefit from right away. Dr. Donahue has a particular focus on pediatric eye care, knowing that a child's eyes are still developing and that addressing any issues early can make a lasting difference in their vision. Dr. Donahue rounds out his offerings with experience in Pediatric Strabismus & Amblyopia, and Pediatric Eye Care, making for a well-rounded practice. Good communication is at the heart of how Dr. Donahue practices, and patients consistently find that their questions are answered and their concerns are taken seriously.

Part of what drives Dr. Donahue is the desire to give back, and that shows up in a commitment to teaching and mentoring in the field. Dr. Donahue is available at Rhode Island Eye Institute Providence, Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, or Rhode Island Eye Institute Fall River, so there are several convenient options for patients. Whether it is your first visit or one of many, Dr. Donahue is glad to welcome you. Dr. Donahue hopes to be the kind of eye care provider you can count on, now and for years to come.
