Bio

Joseph C. Schwartz, MD, is a retina specialist who earned his medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine, setting the stage for a career focused on eye care. Dr. Schwartz completed his residency at Georgetown University / Washington Hospital Center, where he earned the distinction of chief resident, a role that recognizes both skill and leadership. A fellowship in Vitreoretinal was the final step in Dr. Schwartz's training, giving him an in-depth look at the specialty that now defines much of his practice. Patients can feel confident that Dr. Schwartz brings both strong training and real care to every appointment.

Dr. Schwartz specializes in Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration, areas where focused expertise makes a real difference for patients. The retina converts light into the signals that become the images you see, and Dr. Schwartz knows that even small changes there can have a big effect on daily life, which is why regular monitoring matters. Dr. Schwartz rounds out his offerings with experience in Retinal Vascular Disorders, and Retina Surgery, making for a well-rounded practice. From the first visit onward, Dr. Schwartz works to make sure patients feel at ease, informed, and confident that they are getting the right care.

Part of what drives Dr. Schwartz is the desire to give back, and that shows up in a commitment to teaching and mentoring in the field. Family is at the heart of Dr. Schwartz's life outside the practice, and that grounded sense of care is reflected in how he treats patients. You can visit Dr. Schwartz at Atlantic Retina Center Dover, Atlantic Retina Center Salisbury, or Atlantic Retina Center Ocean Pines, and any of those locations would be glad to see you. Dr. Schwartz is the kind of provider who remembers what matters to each patient, and that shows in every visit.
