Kalla Gervasio, MD

Bio

Kalla Gervasio, MD, is an oculofacial plastic surgeon whose route into the specialty began with a Classical Studies degree, elected Phi Beta Kappa and graduating summa cum laude, before medical school at Mount Sinai's Icahn School of Medicine. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provided the transitional year, and residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital brought a Chief Resident appointment and selection as text editor of the eighth edition of the Wills Eye Manual. Two fellowships closed out training: neuro-ophthalmology, again at Wills Eye Hospital, then a two-year ASOPRS-accredited oculofacial plastic surgery fellowship with John Holds, MD, at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Gervasio's specialty areas include eyelid blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, thyroid eye disease, and orbital and tear duct reconstruction. Facial rejuvenation procedures include upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, brow lifts, botox injections, soft tissue fillers, and cosmetic laser services. Reconstructive oculoplastic surgeries cover excision and reconstruction of eyelid and facial skin cancer, mole and skin tag removal, eye socket reconstruction, management of facial nerve paralysis, blocked tear duct repair, ectropion and entropion repair, medical and surgical management of thyroid eye disease, management of orbital tumors and disorders, scar revision, enucleation and evisceration surgery, and repair of orbital, eyelid, and tear duct trauma. Published case work in orbital and lacrimal pathology, including synovial sarcoma of the orbit and mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the lacrimal sac, sits directly alongside that surgical scope.

Dr. Gervasio is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. Outside of work, Dr. Gervasio enjoys spending time with family, watching Philadelphia sports, traveling, and playing basketball and tennis. In Dr. Gervasio's own words, "Every face is different, so every plan should be too. I want patients to leave looking like themselves, just more rested and more comfortable."
