Bio
Karen Nipper, MD, is an oculoplastic & cosmetic surgeon with a background that begins at Vassar College, where she built the academic skills that would shape her career. Dr. Nipper followed up with a medical degree from University of Pennsylvania, where the focus shifted to the detailed science of eye diseases and their treatment. Dr. Nipper then completed an internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Dr. Nipper then trained as a resident at Wills Eye Hospital, where the focus was on building real-world experience with patients day after day. Dr. Nipper finished her formal training with a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, which allowed her to zero in on the kind of care she provides today.
Dr. Nipper has dedicated a significant part of her career to Dry Eye and General Ophthalmology, and that shows in the quality of care patients receive. For patients dealing with dry, uncomfortable eyes, Dr. Nipper offers a thorough evaluation and a range of treatment approaches tailored to each person's situation. In addition to those specialties, Dr. Nipper works with patients who need help with Comprehensive Eye Exams, and Blepharoplasty as well. Each patient who comes in gets Dr. Nipper's full attention and a clear, honest explanation of what is going on and what can be done about it.
Dr. Nipper is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, staying connected to the broader eye care community and continuing to grow as a professional. Dr. Nipper also gives back through volunteer work, a sign that helping others extends well beyond the practice. Dr. Nipper is available at ReFocus Eye Health Hamden or ReFocus Eye Health Waterbury, so patients can choose the spot that is most convenient. New and returning patients alike are always welcome, and Dr. Nipper is glad to be part of your eye health journey.
