Bio

Michael A. Aronsky, MD, completed undergraduate study at the University of Pennsylvania and then earned an MD at the University of South Florida. Transitional-year internship took place at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York. Ophthalmology residency followed in Maryland at the Friedenwald Eye Institute, where the chief resident appointment came in 1997, and a one-year surgical fellowship in cornea, refractive surgery, and external disease was completed at Case Western Reserve University and the University Hospitals of Cleveland.

The surgical practice covers laser vision correction with LASIK and PRK, implantable collamer lens procedures, refractive lens exchange, and cataract surgery, alongside corneal work that runs from collagen cross-linking and ring segments through transplantation. Patients who arrive with thinning or irregular corneas are assessed for the strengthening and reshaping options that can preserve useful sight without a graft, while patients who want freedom from glasses are sorted by which correction their eyes will actually tolerate. Tear film quality is treated as part of that decision rather than separate from it, because it governs both candidacy and how well someone sees once healing is done. Textbook chapters and journal articles have come out of the same work.

Dr. Aronsky is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and belongs to the American Academy of Ophthalmology along with societies devoted to cataract, refractive, and sports ophthalmology. Away from the operating room, Dr. Aronsky lives outside Philadelphia with family and spends free time on the tennis and pickleball courts. In Dr. Aronsky's own words, "A good refractive result starts long before the laser, in the measurements and in an honest conversation about what a patient actually needs.
