Bio
Michael Newton, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose practice centers on the cornea and external eye disease. He completed undergraduate studies with honors before earning his medical degree, training in ophthalmology in New York, and finishing subspecialty fellowship work in corneal surgery and external eye disease. That pathway shaped a practice devoted to the ocular surface and to comprehensive medical eye care.
In the clinic, Dr. Newton offers routine eye exams and comprehensive care, including the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. His special interests include eye infections, dry eye, contact lens complications, recurrent corneal erosions, herpetic eye disease, and the inflammatory and allergic conditions that affect the surface of the eye, as well as ocular problems tied to broader medical conditions.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Newton is an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and holds admitting privileges at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. A longtime interest in medical ethics led him to a master's degree in the field and to service on a hospital ethics committee. In Dr. Newton's own words, "I've always believed that caring for the eye's surface is as much about listening to each patient as it is about surgical precision. My goal is to restore both comfort and clear vision, and to treat the person in front of me with honesty and genuine attention." Patients are welcome at Keyhani Eye Associates in Yorktown Heights.
