Bio

Michael Summerfield, MD, is a cataract & lasik surgeon who began his education at Emory University, where he first developed an interest in the science behind eye health. Dr. Summerfield went on to earn his medical degree from University of Maryland, where he gained a thorough grounding in the science and treatment of eye diseases. Residency training at Georgetown University / Washington Hospital Center gave Dr. Summerfield hands-on experience across many areas of eye care, preparing him well for the years ahead. Along the way, Dr. Summerfield took part in research that contributes to better treatments for eye conditions.

Dr. Summerfield's specialty areas include Dry Eye and Cataract Surgery, and that focused training is something patients benefit from right away. When the lens of the eye loses its transparency, vision can feel foggy or muted, and Dr. Summerfield uses up-to-date surgical techniques to help patients see clearly again.
