Bio
R. Jeffrey Hofmann, MD, is an oculoplastic surgeon who earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University, setting the foundation for a career spent helping people see their best. Dr. Hofmann followed up with a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, graduating summa cum laude, where the focus shifted to the detailed science of eye diseases and their treatment. Dr. Hofmann then completed an internship at Barnes Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. After graduating, Dr. Hofmann completed a residency at Washington University, gaining the kind of patient-facing experience that no classroom can replicate. Most recently, Dr. Hofmann completed fellowship training in Ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, an experience that sharpened his skills and gave him real confidence in this area of eye care.
Dr. Hofmann specializes in Glaucoma Surgery and Oculoplastic & Cosmetic Surgery, areas where focused expertise makes a real difference for patients. Glaucoma can sneak up without warning, and the damage it causes to the optic nerve is often invisible until it is already significant, so Dr. Hofmann makes screening for it a priority. Dr. Hofmann rounds out his offerings with experience in Laser Eye Surgery, and Lacrimal and Orbital Diseases, making for a well-rounded practice. Dr. Hofmann believes that every patient deserves a clear explanation and enough time to ask questions, and that is what they get at every visit.
Dr. Hofmann has contributed to the education of future ophthalmologists, sharing hard-won clinical knowledge with the next generation. Patients can see Dr. Hofmann at Rhode Island Eye Institute Providence, Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, or Rhode Island Eye Institute Fall River, making it easy to find a location that works. Dr. Hofmann understands that choosing an eye care provider is an important decision, and hopes to earn your trust. Dr. Hofmann looks forward to meeting new patients and being a trusted part of their eye care for years to come.
