Bio

Shimy Apoorva, DO, is a cataract & glaucoma surgeon & medical retina who earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, setting the stage for a career focused on eye care. Dr. Apoorva then trained as a resident at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where the focus was on building real-world experience with patients day after day. Dr. Apoorva rounded out her training with a fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis, which gave her a deep, focused understanding of the area where she now spends most of her time helping patients. All of this adds up to a provider who is both well-trained and genuinely invested in helping every patient feel their best.

Specializing in Uveitis & Ocular Inflammation and Vitreoretinal Disorders is what sets Dr. Apoorva apart, and patients notice that depth of knowledge right from the start. Glaucoma tends to progress without causing pain or noticeable changes at first, which is exactly why Dr. Apoorva places a strong focus on early detection and ongoing monitoring for every patient. Because the retina is so essential to everyday vision, Dr. Apoorva takes a careful and thorough approach to monitoring it, making sure that any changes are caught and addressed right away.
