Bio
Thomas Lang, MD, is a cataract surgeon who earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, setting the foundation for a career spent helping people see their best. Dr. Lang went on to earn his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians, where he gained a thorough grounding in the science and treatment of eye diseases. Dr. Lang then completed an internship at Mt. Sinai Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with real patients in a clinical setting. Dr. Lang then trained as a resident at Manhattan Eye, where the focus was on building real-world experience with patients day after day.
Dr. Lang's specialty areas include Ocular Surface Disease and General Ophthalmology, and that focused training is something patients benefit from right away. Dry eye happens when the eyes are not producing enough tears to stay comfortable, and it can range from a mild annoyance to something that gets in the way of daily life, which is why Dr. Lang takes it seriously. Dr. Lang also has expertise in Anterior Segment Surgery, giving patients access to a wide range of care in one place. Dr. Lang believes that every patient deserves a clear explanation and enough time to ask questions, and that is what they get at every visit.
Part of what drives Dr. Lang is the desire to give back, and that shows up in a commitment to teaching and mentoring in the field. You can visit Dr. Lang at Rhode Island Eye Institute Providence, Rhode Island Eye Institute South Kingstown, or Rhode Island Eye Institute East Providence, and any of those locations would be glad to see you. New and returning patients alike are always welcome, and Dr. Lang is glad to be part of your eye health journey. Your eye health is important, and Dr. Lang is here to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.
